Cost Guide

What junk removal actually costs here

We don't set prices — the contractor who loads your truck does. So here is what this work genuinely costs in Dallas–Fort Worth, so you can tell a fair quote from a bad one.

These are market ranges, not our prices

WeTakeIt is a referral service. We don't own trucks and we don't quote jobs — independent local contractors do that, and they set their own prices with no markup from us.

Plenty of sites in this industry publish a tidy price table that quietly turns into something else once the truck is in your driveway. We'd rather show you the real published market data so you can judge the quotes you get. Every figure below comes from a third-party industry source, cited inline.

WeTakeIt is a referral service, not a hauling company. Your job is quoted and performed by an independent local contractor who carries its own insurance and bills you directly.

By The Load

Typical price by load size

Nearly all haulers price by volume — how much of the truck bed your pile fills.

Single item

One couch, fridge, mattress or hot tub

$75 – $175

Priced off a crew minimum — the truck, two people, fuel and the dump fee — not off the item itself.

Minimum / quarter load

A small mixed pile, roughly 2–4 cubic yards

$100 – $250

The most common small job. A garage corner, a closet clear-out, a few bags of yard waste.

Half truck

Roughly 6–8 cubic yards

$250 – $520

A single-room clear-out, a small remodel's debris, or a well-stuffed garage.

Full truck

Roughly 12–16 cubic yards

$450 – $850

Whole-garage, whole-apartment or full property cleanout territory.

Ranges compiled from published 2026 industry data: Angi reports a national average of about $241 with most jobs between $60 and $700; Thumbtack puts the national range at $134–$306 with a median near $199; ConsumerAffairs surveyed companies charging from roughly $98 for a minimum load up to $848 for a full load. Fort Worth typically sits at or a little below national averages. Not a quote and not binding on any contractor.

By The Item

Single-item haul-away

One thing that needs to go. Note that the crew minimum, not the item, usually drives the floor.

Mattress or box spring$75 – $160
Couch or recliner$75 – $200
Sectional sofa$100 – $350
Refrigerator or washer$85 – $200
Television$60 – $125
Hot tub$350 – $800

Item ranges informed by Angi's furniture removal cost data, which reports a $180 average and a common range of $75–$250 per piece.

The Variables

What actually moves the number

Volume, not weight

Almost every hauler in this market prices by how much of the truck bed you fill. That is why quotes get much more accurate once you send photos.

Access and stairs

A curbside pile is the cheapest job there is. A third-floor walk-up, a narrow alley or a back yard with no gate access all add labour time.

Disposal fees

Transfer stations charge by the ton, and some materials — mattresses, tyres, appliances with refrigerant, construction debris — carry surcharges the hauler has to pass along.

Timing

Same-day and weekend work costs more than letting a contractor slot you into an existing route. If your job can wait two days, say so — it is often cheaper.

Protect Yourself

How not to get overcharged

This advice works whether or not you ever use us.

  1. 01

Get more than one quote. Two or three prices on the same pile is the single most effective thing you can do, and it costs you nothing.

  2. 02

Insist on an all-in number. Ask specifically whether disposal fees, fuel and labour are included, or whether they are added afterwards.

  3. 03

Be wary of a price quoted sight-unseen and then raised on arrival. A contractor who has seen photos should not be renegotiating in your driveway.

  4. 04

Send photos up front. It protects you as much as the hauler — a quote based on real pictures is much harder to walk back.

  5. 05

Check what happens to your stuff. Reputable haulers donate and recycle what they can, and can tell you which transfer station takes the rest.

FAQ

Pricing questions

Why doesn't WeTakeIt just show me a price?
Because we are not the ones doing the job, so any number we published would be a guess. We connect you with independent local contractors, and each one prices your job themselves based on volume, access and disposal costs. The ranges on this page are published market figures to help you judge whether a quote is fair — they are not our prices, and no contractor is bound by them.
What does WeTakeIt charge me?
Nothing. There is no customer fee, commission, booking charge or markup. You pay the contractor directly at their price. Contractors pay us a flat monthly subscription for access to requests in their area, and that fee does not change with the size or value of your job.
Is a cheaper quote a bad sign?
Not automatically — a hauler who is already running a route near you can genuinely afford to charge less. But a quote far below the ranges on this page is worth a question or two: confirm they carry liability insurance, confirm the price includes disposal, and confirm it is a firm number rather than a starting point.
How accurate are these ranges for Fort Worth?
They are national published ranges, and Fort Worth generally sits at or slightly below national averages because disposal and labour costs here are moderate. Treat them as a sanity check, not a quote. The only accurate number is the one a contractor gives you after seeing what you actually have.
Do I pay a deposit?
That is between you and the contractor, but for a routine same-day haul most contractors in this market collect on completion rather than up front. WeTakeIt never collects payment for hauling work and never holds your money.
How much does it cost contractors to join?
Contractors pay a flat monthly subscription — not a percentage of any job. Full details are on our Partners page.
